Hello. Today, I'm going to recommend a slightly special cafe. When you go to a cafe or a cocktail bar and order a drink, how do you order? Usually, you'll choose from the menu. However, this place is special in that you can order the drink you want. You can customize your drink by specifying the exact ingredients, or you can order metaphorically by writing a sentence or phrase. It's truly your own unique drink. Want to know more? Then let me introduce it.

The cafe and bar I'm going to introduce is 'Dadalab'!
They also offer vegan menu options. You can make a reservation through Naver. While reservations aren't mandatory, it's recommended as there may be a waiting time if you don't. It's already become famous on SNS for its system where if you order coffee, tea, or a cocktail with a specific sentence, it's customized to match that sentence.
Let me tell you the location. It's located in the basement of 17, World Cup-ro 15-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul. If you're using the subway, it's 204 meters from exit 2 of Mangwon Station on Line 6. It's about a 2-minute walk, so it's very close. Operating hours are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and from Wednesday to Friday, it's open from 2 PM to 2 AM, and on Saturdays and Sundays, it's open from 1 PM to 2 AM.
The shop owner also introduces Dadalab as a "sentence blending" workspace that translates your story into taste and aroma.
I'll introduce the menu in more detail. There's Sentence Coffee (₩8,800), Sentence Tea Blending (₩9,800), Sentence Cocktail (₩15,800), and Sentence Reply (₩25,800).
Besides the Sentence Cocktail, there are various other menus, so if customizing your own drink seems difficult or burdensome, you can choose other options. They also have vegan drinks, so it's a great place to visit with vegan friends.
They also offer a one-day class where you can experience making your own drinks, so check it out.

Let me explain how to order a drink at Dadalab.
First, you'll receive a sheet of paper. It's labeled with Work Instruction Sheet, Recipient, Raw Material, Accessories, and Materials. The Work Instruction Sheet asks you to write down any sentence you want to write today. If you write the sentence you want or the exact style of drink you want, the staff will be able to understand your intentions better. Many people seem to choose from song lyrics, book passages, or movie lines. I think this part requires a lot of creativity from the bartender.
In the Materials section, you can write any additional requests like your desired alcohol concentration. In Recipient, you write your table number. In Raw Material, you check the box for Coffee, Tea, Cocktail, or Reply. In Accessories, you can write any additional orders like desserts, snacks, or other drinks.
Since it's a creative process, it usually takes time. When your drink is ready, you'll receive a sheet of paper along with it. On the stiff paper, the staff's sentence is written. They'll write what ingredients are in the drink along with the customer's requested sentence.
The interior is a duplex structure with the first and second floors. There are bar tables for solo seating and tables for groups.

It's been a few years since I first wanted to go... Dadalab seems like a truly charming space for book lovers. A cup of tea, coffee, or cocktail paired with work and a sentence. The words "work" and "sentence translation" make me think of printed materials from a publishing house. I think it's quite romantic to enjoy a drink while reading.
Dadalab, a place I've wanted to visit myself. If you're looking for a unique cafe, I highly recommend this one.
